Getting a late-night delivery in Marrakech or Rabat after midnight

A burger served with a portion of fries, a typical late evening order

Say your flight lands late, you reach your riad or rented flat around midnight, and every kitchen nearby seems to have closed. Getting a meal or a prescription brought to you in Marrakech or Rabat remains possible at that hour, though the city works differently once the shutters come down. Fewer shops are trading, fewer people are around to give directions, and your building's front door is probably locked.

Livreur 24h takes orders on WhatsApp or by phone at any hour, with no app to install and no account to open, weekends and public holidays included. You can read more on our round-the-clock home delivery service. Before you confirm, you are told the price and the estimated time, which leaves you room to change your mind.

The courier runs all night, the restaurants may not

A 24-hour courier does not keep every restaurant open. Your driver collects from the restaurant, pharmacy or grocery you choose, provided it is still serving. Closing times differ from one place to the next and shift with the day of the week and the season. A listing you found online may quote hours that the kitchen did not keep tonight.

So put a fallback in your first message: two restaurants, or two kinds of food, such as pizza if possible and a burger if not. In Marrakech, a good starting point is our late fast food options around Marrakech. In the capital, try the page for pizza brought to your Rabat address. Ask for confirmation that the place is still accepting orders before you count on it.

Medicines follow another logic. Once daytime pharmacies shut, only on-duty pharmacies serve customers, and the service locates the nearest active one, as described on our Rabat medicine delivery page. A courier is no substitute for an ambulance. In a life-threatening emergency, call the emergency services first.

Timing after midnight

The averages in our FAQ hold as rough guides at night too: 35 to 45 minutes for most meals, pizza and fast food, and 45 minutes to 1 hour for pharmacy runs, depending on whether the medicines are in stock. Traffic and distance move those figures. Quiet roads help, while the trip gets longer when the nearest open kitchen sits in another district.

For example, suppose you are staying in Hay Riad and the only restaurant still open is in Agdal. The courier has to ride there, wait for your food and ride back. Fees also vary with distance and address, so read the amount you are quoted before replying yes.

Getting through a locked front door

By day, a lobby door may stand open and a neighbour can point the way. At night, residences lock up, the intercom may go unanswered and the caretaker may have stepped out. Include these details when you order:

  • the residence name, building number, floor and flat;
  • how to get in, meaning intercom, door code, gate or caretaker;
  • where you will come down to meet the courier if nobody can open up;
  • at a hotel or riad, who receives deliveries at this hour and under which name.

If the intercom would wake the whole building, say so. "I'll come down to the gate when you call" takes one line and settles it. Hotel guests should warn the night desk that a courier is on the way, since some properties screen visitors late in the evening.

Landmarks you can see in the dark

Many of the landmarks you rely on by day vanish when the shops close. "Next to the grocer" means little when the grocer has pulled the shutter and has no lit sign. Pick something visible from a distance at night: a petrol station, a roundabout, a mosque's minaret, a lit-up façade. Share your WhatsApp location as well, which helps with the last stretch.

Turn on a balcony or hallway light if you can, and wait somewhere bright, away from the far end of a dead-end alley. In the old medinas of Marrakech and Rabat, some lanes take no vehicles at all, so agree on a meeting point at a gate or a square. Readers living in the capital can use this district guide to Rabat addresses to describe where they are.

Keep your phone reachable until the handover

A courier who cannot find you at 2 a.m. has one way left to reach you. Leave the ringer on, check your battery, and watch out for silent mode if you might doze off on the sofa. If you are ordering for a friend or relative, give the number of whoever will open the door. A second number costs nothing to add.

A complete message saves calls. Something along these lines works:

Good evening, delivery to Hivernage please. Two pizzas, or two burgers if the restaurant has stopped taking orders. The residence is locked, so I will come down to the gate when you call. My phone stays on. Could you tell me the total and the estimated time?

For other time-pressed situations, there is a message template you can copy with the details in the right order.

Cash, cancelling and checking at the door

Payment is cash on delivery, and there is no online payment. Have the amount ready before the courier arrives, because finding a cash machine or small change takes time at this hour. Meals travel in insulated bags, but open the bag at the handover anyway. If an item is missing or the order is wrong, send a WhatsApp message straight away. The team reviews what happened and corrects it according to the circumstances, through a partial refund, a credit or a new delivery.

You can change your mind at night, within limits. Cancelling is free until the courier heads to the shop; after that, a travel fee may apply, as set out in our full terms of service. Livreur 24h acts as a delivery intermediary. It does not answer for the quality of products supplied by merchants or for waiting caused by their preparation.

When hunger or a small crisis turns up late, a single WhatsApp message with your address, your order and a fallback choice is enough to get the run moving.
